Teacher of Science with Teaching and Learning Responsibility job summary

Teaching science is like leading an expedition into the unknown, where each lesson uncovers new ideas, challenges assumptions, and helps students make sense of the world around them. In this role, you will be part guide, part storyteller, and part problem solver, supporting students as they explore everything from microscopic cells to the vastness of the universe.

We are looking for a passionate Teacher of Science who can ignite a love of learning and inspire curiosity through exploration, discovery, and innovation. A TLR2 is available for the right candidate, offering the opportunity to take on additional leadership responsibility and further develop professionally.

How you’ll make an impact

No two days are the same; from unpicking complex theories to celebrating breakthrough moments, you will play a key role in shaping confident, inquisitive learners. You will deliver engaging and high-quality lessons across physics, chemistry, and biology, fostering curiosity and independent thinking through enquiry led teaching. You will lead practical investigations safely and effectively, bringing theory to life while helping students make meaningful connections between science and the world around them. Through well planned and memorable learning experiences, you will build students’ confidence and deepen their understanding.

Our offer to you

We offer a positive, forward thinking learning culture supported by staff, students, parents, and OCL governance, alongside enthusiastic learners who thrive in a structured and purposeful environment. You will join a collaborative and supportive team that values creativity and professional growth, with access to a highly competitive salary and benefits package, including a generous pension scheme and free use of our on site gym. We are committed to your development through extensive professional learning and clear pathways for career progression. This is also your chance to be part of an organisation with a national reputation for raising standards and transforming communities.

We are seeking an individual who has

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching science at secondary level.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for science and the ability to inspire young people.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging, challenging lessons.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach to working within a team.
  • The drive to contribute to wider school improvement and, where appropriate, take on leadership responsibility through a TLR2 role.
