THE ENHANCED PATHWAY

Our Enhanced Pathway is designed to offer a more bespoke approach that works within the strengths of the primary environment and provides a stepping stone for a small number of students who require a graduated transition into secondary. The Year 7 cohort will have access to mainstream options and a differentiated curriculum offer, linking to the wider school curriculum. This is key for students whilst they are getting used to the larger setting and the social aspects of secondary school life. Students gradually work towards reintegrating to a full timetable of mainstream curriculum lessons.

THE ROLE

We are recruiting a teacher and learning support assistant to lead the Enhanced Pathway. You will be a primary and/or secondary teacher with experience in closing gaps in literacy and numeracy. You will work with the SENCO, and curriculum leads, to design and and lead the curriculum for these students when they are working within the pathway. The teaching space will offer a safe place for students to regulate, enable them to have pre teaching or additional support for learners with lower starting points. Students have been identified for this provision through transition and discussions with Primary Schools, the Local Authority, and other specialist professionals.

GENERAL DUTIES

At MAS we pride ourselves on providing a safe and happy environment where young people can flourish and we want to ensure success for everyone. This job description should be read in conjunction with the current School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document and the provisions of that document will apply to the post holder.

You will be expected to carry out the professional duties of a teacher as outlined in the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document currently in operation, or any subsequent legislation. The performance of all the duties and responsibilities shown below will be under the reasonable direction of the Headteacher, or other Senior Manager if appropriate, who will be mindful of his/her duty to ensure that the employee has a reasonable workload and sufficient support to carry out the duties of the post.

In addition to support from within the SEND team, newly appointed staff are able to benefit from the induction support programme.
