Not suitable for an NQT

Due to the continued development of our SEND provision, we are looking to appoint an inspirational colleague to join us at The National Academy as a teacher of SEND.  This is a full time and permanent position and the nature of this very exciting post means it could be suitable for a colleague from the primary or secondary sector.

The successful candidate would be responsible for the planning, teaching and assessing of students in our nurture classes across KS3 & 4.  We have one nurture class in each year group with students accessing the curriculum in a modified form suitable to their learning needs.  In this way, many of the students would need teaching to a primary school level.  Accordingly, experience of teaching across the curriculum would be beneficial, while some experience of literacy support would also be good.

Alongside this teaching responsibility, you would also work to support the SENCo in the general running of our inclusion area.  One key area would be ensuring all access arrangements for examinations are assessed and implemented.  It is not essential candidates have an appropriate qualification for this access arrangements role as training would be provided externally.

The successful candidate would receive:

• Full support and induction;

• Excellent CPD opportunities;

• Further leadership openings if appropriate;

• A strong and caring ethos among staff and students;

• Excellent purpose-built post 16 facilities;

• Strong leadership at senior and middle levels;

• A well-being package;

• Networking opportunities across the MITRE trust.

Please contact the Head of Inclusion, Ms Clare Stones [cstones@nationalacademy.org.uk] to arrange a visit or a further discussion.

Closing date for applications: 9am on 2nd July 2021

Interviews will be held: week commencing 5th July 2021

The Minster Trust for Education is committed to safeguarding children and the promotion of equal opportunities for staff and students. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check and complete a KCSIE Declaration.
