Teacher of Social Sciences job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available to teach Social Sciences in a vibrant and improving setting at this “Outstanding” Catholic School (Section 48 Inspection Oct 2017). Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher of Psychology/Sociology? A willingness/ability to teach a second subject, preferably Science/PE, would be desirable although other subjects could be considered. The key thing is that we are looking to employ an excellent Social Science teacher who is adaptable.
St Wilfrid’s is growing in size, from 5 forms of entry (FE) to 6. We have also introduced Psychology into the GCSE curriculum for September 2021. As the school grows in size and as Psychology becomes embedded at Key Stage 4, the need to teach a “second subject” will diminish. This appointment may also allow us to introduce Sociology at GCSE in the future.

St Wilfrid’s has an extremely strong reputation in the community and as such, we are heavily oversubscribed with waiting lists in all year groups. We are a 5-form entry Catholic School with 788 students in Year 7-11 and 182 students in our Sixth Form. In September 2020 we took 6 form groups into Year 7 and this will continue for September 2021 and beyond.
The students love their school and staff love working here. In our most recent Section 48 inspection, where we were rated “Outstanding”, the inspectors commented, “in every interview the word “community” was one of the defining characteristics of St Wilfrid’s”.
