About us:
Laurus Ryecroft is a secondary free school which opened in September 2018 in Tameside for 150 year 7 students, growing year on year to full capacity of 1050 students and 300 sixth form students. The school replicates the outstanding provision offered by the Laurus Trust founding school Cheadle Hulme High School.
The Laurus Trust is a growing multi-academy trust in the North West of England.
The vision of the Trust is for everyone regardless of background or circumstance to be inspired, to thrive in all environments, to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and to work hard to achieve them. We are unashamedly academic. In the recent Staff Engagement Survey 97% of our employees stated that they would recommend working for Laurus Trust to their friends. In 2018/19 our average Teacher turnover rate for Secondary schools was 3.26%, which falls way below the National Average of 15%.
All our Laurus Schools are hugely oversubscribed and have a reputation, both locally and further afield, for outstanding teaching and learning through the relentless pursuit of excellence and the determination to ensure that every child succeeds. Our founder school Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS) was judged Outstanding in every single category by Ofsted in 2011 and 2015. CHHS ranked as the 15th non-denominational comprehensive school nationwide in the annual Times Parent Power Survey 2019. This year CHHS is one of the top ten most sought after schools in Greater Manchester with more than 40% of all GCSEs awarded at Grade 7 or above, whilst an impressive 69% scored grades 9-5 in English and Maths. Grade 5 or above is considered the government’s gold standard at GCSE level.
Our students’ behaviour is faultless. (Ofsted 2015)
At the heart of our success at Laurus is the passionate belief in the importance of professional learning for all our staff. A rich diet of research informed pedagogy ensures that our teachers are at the cutting edge of their practice. To support this we financially support masters and doctoral level study alongside the NPQ suite of qualifications.
If you want to work in a highly ambitious and successful school, and have the passion and commitment to join us at an exciting time for learning and development as we expand and open new schools in the Trust, then we would like to hear from you.

About Laurus Ryecroft

Laurus Ryecroft is a new secondary free school for 11 to 18-year-old students in Tameside. The school is run by the Laurus Trust and replicates the outstanding education offered by the Trust’s founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS), based in Stockport. CHHS is a hugely oversubscribed school and was recently named in the Sunday Times ‘Parent Power’ top comprehensive schools in the country.

Laurus Ryecroft is a non-selective, non-denominational free school. It opened in September 2018, initially providing 150 Year 7 places in five forms with 30 students in each. A further seven Year 7 forms will be added each academic year until the school is at full capacity. In addition to this the school will have a sixth form of 300 students.

Our curriculum ensures that every student recognises what it takes to succeed, sets aspirational goals and works hard to achieve them with the support of a highly qualified and dedicated team of education professionals. It is shaped by the students as it responds to their individual needs and is underpinned by the Cornerstones of the Laurus Trust: Academic Aspiration, Leadership and Service, Competition and Physical Endeavour and Culture, Creativity and Rhetoric.

If you want to work in a highly ambitious and successful school and believe you have the vision and commitment to join our team, then we would like to hear from you.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
