What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an excellent teacher to cover a maternity post in our Spanish department. We are looking for a dynamic and forward thinking member of staff who can contribute to our hardworking department and to continue to secure outstanding outcomes for all of our pupils.

The Spanish department has its own teaching rooms and all students are issued with a Chromebook enabling us to make use of useful online websites and tools to support learning.

Studying a language is compulsory at GCSE with Spanish being a popular choice. We have many students who choose to take two languages at GCSE. A Level Spanish is a popular course.

What the school offers its staff

Working with us: Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School was founded in 1701 in order to provide an education to young men who would go on to work at the famous Chatham Dockyard. More than 300 years later we still pride ourselves on providing a superb academic education alongside an unparalleled range of opportunities for personal growth and character development. Awarded ‘outstanding’ in our last Ofsted, the comment that stands out to us is, “students thrive within its distinctive ethos, enabling them to succeed academically and to develop into confident, well-rounded individuals who are prepared extremely well for their future lives.”

In 2012 the School became one of the first 100 National Teaching Schools and in 2021 was successful in converting this into becoming one of the first 35 National Teaching School Hubs. Alongside our work as a National Support School, our position in Leigh Academies Trust and as the lead school in the Kent and Medway Maths Hub the school is in unrivalled position to offer superb support and training to any new member of staff, regardless of their role, or their experience.
