What skills and experience we're looking for
The Norton Knatchbull School is looking for a full time Teacher of Spanish. This is a permanent position. We welcome applicants from either selective or wide ability settings, who are keen to work with high achieving and motivated students. The successful applicant will be expected to have experience of teaching Spanish up to and including A Level. The ability to teach French to at least KS3 would be an advantage, although not a requirement. This post is suitable for an ECT or equally a more experienced colleague looking for a new challenge. We are looking for an excellent classroom practitioner who can inspire both colleagues and students and lead by example.
The Modern Foreign Languages department at Norton Knatchbullissmall yet very well resourced. We approach the teaching of languages through well-planned lessons thatinterweave EPI activities withexplicit grammar and vocabulary instruction. Weoperateon a collaborative planning policy andaim tomaximise student potential while ensuring that teachers retainagood work-life balance.
Students at NKSstart their languagelearning journey in year 7 choosing between French or Spanish. They then carry on studying this language on a compulsory 5-year path all the way to GCSEas part of their Ebacc. Although still small, our A level cohorts have been growing in numbers in the last few years and it isour priority to increase the uptake. We follow the AQA specification for GCSE and Edexcel for A level.
