Teacher of Special Education job summary
Teacher of Special Education
(Full Time with additional allowance for suitably qualified candidate)
Required from September 2022.
The Bewdley School is seeking to appoint a teacher of special education. As a result of the excellent reputation our curriculum support team, we have a group of students with EHCPs joining our year 7 in September who are not ‘secondary ready’. In order to ensure that they can access the curriculum, we are creating a bespoke learning provision based in a newly refurbished classroom, which will function as a base for most of the year 7 curriculum. Each student will follow an individualised curriculum plan, which will integrate them into the most suitable elements of the mainstream curriculum for their specific needs.
The successful applicant will be a qualified teacher, ideally with experience in both primary and secondary phases of education, with a commitment to and experience of teaching children with learning difficulties. Further study of special education at master’s degree level, or a willingness to engage in such further study, is desirable for this role. We will financially support advanced study, or reward higher level qualifications with additional pay. If you would like to work with skilled colleagues in a supportive environment, where you are free to shape provision and develop your skills, please visit us.
We seek a colleague who has:
• Exceptional energy and enthusiasm
• A real depth of understanding of, and love for teaching
• A sophisticated grasp of how children learn
• The optimism to imagine a better future
In return we offer:
• Students who are genuinely curious
• A welcoming, friendly and supportive culture
• Opportunities for personal development
• A commitment to rational and balanced leadership
Additional allowance will be awarded to suitablly qualified candidate.
