Teacher of Technology (Hospitality and Catering or Design Technology) job summary

0.8 - 1 FTE Teacher/Instructor required September 2024

Taverham is an excellent, 11-18 school with a caring, positive ethos. The school was substantially redeveloped in 2007 and we became an academy in April 2013 and joined Enrich Learning Trust in February 2024. In May 2023, the school was recognised as ‘good’ in all categories by Ofsted and in the Summer of 2023 we achieved our best ever results, with our attainment in English and Maths among the highest in the county.

We seek to promote the development of students into resilient, independent young people, who are respectful and make a positive contribution to the wider community and beyond. We pride ourselves on the professional development we offer our staff.

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic professional to join our Design and Technology department on either a full-time basis or four days per week. The successful candidate will teach a technology subject at KS3 and either Hospitality and Catering or Design Technology at KS4. If you have initiative, enthusiasm for learning, good educational qualifications and some experience in working with young people, we would like to meet you. The ideal candidate will have experience of teaching to KS4 and have confidence in teaching a broad range of ability. However, this role may suit an instructor or a teacher of another subject who is keen to retrain into design and technology teaching. If you are interested, please do get in touch to discuss this opportunity further. If you are unsure whether your skillset or experience might meet the needs of the department, please don’t hesitate to contact the school to discuss the role.

Enrich Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils and expects all those working at the Trust to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (2013 and 2020). This means that certain convictions and cautions are considered ‘protected’ and do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. Guidance about whether a conviction or caution should be disclosed can be found on the Ministry of Justice website: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/new-guidance-on-the-rehabilitation-of-offenders-act-1974

For more specific information on the post please contact Jason Eastick, Head of Faculty at j_eastick@taverhamhigh.org.

Closing date for applications: Tuesday 21 May 2024

Interview date: Thursday 23 May 2024

Informal visits to the academy prior to interview can be arranged.
