Teacher of the Deaf job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or an experienced teacher with substantial knowledge of this field to join our multidisciplinary outreach service — SENDsuccess — commissioned by Waltham Forest borough. This is a chance to work in a joined-up service that promotes inclusion for EY settings, mainstream school staff, children and their families in the borough. The work will be across all ages of pupils from 0-18 years.
Own transport is a necessity.
This is a 12-month contract initially. We are looking for a teacher who can join the team from September 2020 or asap.
As an outreach teacher you will support multi-agency settings, schools and parents by:
• offering tailored advice and support for staff working with hearing-impaired students
• providing whole school training and individual staff training covering best practice and the latest ideas and guidance
• working directly with students
• supporting parents and carers including some home visiting
• working in partnership with other agencies
• helping with the creation of online training and guidance materials and videos
During this pandemic, staff are currently working from home. Equipment will be provided to do this if necessary. Staff are working remotely with all settings and pupils. There are currently only virtual visits to settings. This is subject to change according to institutional and Government developments. Usually the team are based at Whitefield Academy, Macdonald Road, London E17 4AZ.
