Teacher of the Deaf job summary
We are offering a unique and exciting opportunity for a dynamic, highly motivated, and fully qualified Teacher of the Deaf.
The successful candidate will work across two mainstream schools with Enhanced Resource Facilities for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Children, within Embark Federation. The two schools are based on one shared site, in Langley Mill.
This is a permanent full time position from September 2025, with three days based at Aldercar High School (0.6fte), and two days based at Aldercar Infant School (0.4fte). We would consider a job share for the right candidates (0.6fte / 0.4fte).
The ability to develop deaf children’s speech, language, listening and communications skills are essential. The successful candidate will also be able to use audiological equipment effectively and have excellent communication skills, including BSL level 2 or equivalent.
Successful candidates will be able to:
- A commitment to the academic progress and emotional well-being of all students within the provision.
- A commitment to ensuring the Hearing Support provision meets Quality Standards as set by the Local Authority.
- Ability to work in partnership with class teachers and other staff to plan and deliver effective curriculum, including Deaf Awareness and classroom strategies to meet specific needs.
- Ability to provide professional development for all staff working with Deaf and Hearing Impaired students.
- Ability to uphold ambitious educational standards which prepare deaf and hearing impaired pupils for their next phase of education and life
- Help to further improve positive and respectful relationships by embedding deaf awareness and an inclusive environment across the school community
Salary for this position is on the Teachers Main Pay Scale (starting point is subject to relevant experience) plus TLR allowance.
