Teacher of the Deaf
We are looking for a teacher who can offer:
Qualified Teacher status with at least 3 years’ experience in a Primary setting (2 years considered).
A proven track record as a Good or Outstanding teacher.
Be a qualified Teacher of the Deaf or be prepared to train to gain a recognised qualification to teach deaf children (TOD).
Be passionate about inclusion, including that of Deaf children within our school community.
Has British Sign Language level 1.
Establish working relationships with all members of the school community, including staff, families and children.
Develop effective links with a range of agencies to support pupils’ personalised learning.
Write focused and relevant Individual Education Plans.
Be flexible in work practices.
Work effectively independently and as part of a team and in partnership with the mainstream team.
Commitment to continuing professional development.
Essential educational requirements
British Sign Language Level 1 (with the expectation that level 2 would be reached asap - the school is a registered centre for training)
Three years' experience in a primary setting (2 years would be considered)
Qualified Teacher Status
Teacher of the Deaf qualification (or prepared to gain recognised qualification to teacher deaf children)
Essential skills and experience
Be passionate about inclusion and have experience of working with deaf children
