Teacher of the Deaf job summary

Grade/Salary: Teachers Main/Upper Pay Scale + SEN1 Allowance (An additional SEN point will be awarded to teachers who hold the mandatory qualification for the teaching of deaf students)
Hours: Full-Time - 1FTE (0.8 FTE will also be considered).
Required: April 2020

Linden Lodge School and the Wandsworth Sensory Support Service is a leading provider of education for children and young people aged 2 – 19 years with a sensory impairment. We are constantly building and growing our provision and a rare opportunity has arisen within Wandsworth Hearing Support service for an outstanding practitioner to work as a Teacher of the Deaf within a secondary mainstream setting (The Rowan Hearing Support Centre in Southfields Academy).

This is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about transforming young peoples’ lives, promoting independence and has a desire to develop their career in a specialist setting. You'll be working in a small team of colleagues committed to providing high quality lessons and support to children and young people with a hearing needs, who use spoken English to communicate.

This post is open to both experienced Teachers of the Deaf and class teachers with a proven track record of outstanding classroom practice, who have a passion and interest in meeting the needs of students who have a hearing loss.

Applicants who do not hold the mandatory qualification, must have completed their statutory induction period and be willing to undertake the part-time, two year teacher of the deaf training.
