What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a teacher or instructor who can lead this vocational curriculum area, with ideally a specialism in either Hair and Beauty, Child Development or Health and Social Care.

We are looking for someone with practical skills and creative flair who has either a hairdressing or beauty background and is confident to deliver a level 2 qualification in hair & beauty or someone experienced in delivering vocational qualifications at level 2.

A teaching qualification is not essential however experience of training or instruction is highly desirable. We welcome applications from a range of staff from more experienced teachers to those newer to the profession; we can somewhat shape the position for the correct person and will look positively on all applicants. The school actively encourages applicants from a range of backgrounds and is proud of the diversity of the staff.

What the school offers its staff

The Blue Coat School is committed to safeguarding young people and we ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All appointments are subject to full safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check. Any candidates selected for interview will be subject to an online search as part of our due diligence checks. The school reserves the right to close the position early on receipt of a strong application, so if you are interested we would urge you to apply sooner rather than later.

Commitment to safeguarding

Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.

Our recruitment process follows the keeping children safe in education guidance.

Offers of employment may be subject to the following checks (where relevant):

You must tell us about any unspent conviction, cautions, reprimands or warnings under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.
