Teacher of Year 4 (Maternity Cover) job summary

The children, staff and governing body of Lea Community Primary School are looking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic and highly motivated teacher to join our team in continuing to raise standards and provide quality experiences and opportunities for our children.

School life at Lea centres around our school values and strong behaviour policy which along with our nurturing ethos provides the essence to our successful inclusive school. Supporting our children and families through outstanding pastoral care is intrinsic within our daily work and our approach towards SMSC learning is the ‘golden thread’ that lies at the heart of all we do.

We believe in educating the whole child and whilst we have high academic expectations we also give equal importance to developing well rounded children equipped with the skills for living life in the modern world and ensuring the best possible outcomes for them on all levels both inside and outside the classroom. We have a passion for promoting performing arts and offering a wider curriculum, this is woven within our teaching provision and throughout the extensive extra-curricular opportunities available to our children.

We hope that the successful candidate will embrace and enhance the vision we share for our children, be able to provide outstanding teaching and learning experiences across the curriculum and support us on our continued journey of high expectations, aspirations and all round success for all of our children. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a skilled and enthusiastic teaching team.

This is a fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave within our Year 4 class.

The successful candidate will:

Be a positive role model for our children and inspire them to be the best they can be.

Provide evidence of consistently good to outstanding teaching and learning that inspires and challenges all of our children to achieve best outcomes.

Have strong and effective behaviour management.

Provide effective management of teaching assistants to support and enhance learning and achievement, including adding extra challenge for the most able.

Work creatively to provide positive experiences for all our children including our most vulnerable and disadvantaged children, and differentiate their learning to raise their attainment and progress.

Promote consistent high quality marking and feedback that ensures children are aware of their next steps in learning and that all abilities are challenged.

Use a variety of strategies that promote independent learning within a creative curriculum.

Create an engaging classroom environment which supports the curriculum, inspires learning and results in good outcomes for the children.

Have a passion in supporting the continued development of our performing arts.

Be committed to accessing appropriate CPD, engage in coaching, peer observation and mentoring opportunities to continue in your personal and professional development.

This post will be from 1 January 2020 and will be a fixed term contract until 31 August 2020 covering a maternity leave.
