What skills and experience we're looking for

Applications are welcome from instructors, newly qualified and experienced teachers of PE, who have a passion for the subject and for student success. An ability to teach Post 16 is desirable but not essential.

Our PE department prides itself on inclusion, where every child has the chance to access high quality PE lessons and develop their understanding across numerous sports. We look at the whole individual and assess based not just on physical performance but also social, communicative and leadership skills as we work to develop positive self-esteem for all our pupils. We recognise that positive sporting experiences at a young age can have a major impact on the mental well-being of our students and ensure that all our pupils, regardless of ability, have the chance to achieve success in PE.

We offer GCSE PE and Level 2 BTEC from Year 9 and A Level PE and Level 3 BTEC (single and double) from Year 12. Our PE Department has had great success in local borough, county and national competitions across a number of different sports, most notably football, basketball and athletics. We run numerous extra-curricular clubs in the sports above as well as table tennis, rugby, cross country, cricket, badminton and tennis.

Our facilities include a recently built 3G Astro, a multi-use Sports Hall, a fitness suite, outdoor basketball/tennis courts and football/rugby fields.

We are looking to appoint those with a passion for both Physical Education and Sport, who work well as part of a team but also have the confidence to share their ideas on how the department can be improved. Applicants will have had experience of teaching across the ability range at KS3 and KS4 and possibly KS5 and must be passionate, well organised, and hardworking, with high expectations of students and colleagues. Successful candidates will be expected to teach across this wide range of provision as well as contribute to the extra-curricular programme with commitment to clubs, trips, and fixtures.
