Pear Tree Community Junior School is seeking to appoint an excellent teaching practitioner who has high expectations of pupil progress and a drive for self-development.

The school has been on a rapid improvement journey and many challenges have been met and overcome. The next phase of our journey will be to move towards consistently excellent provision and see all our pupils truly flourish.
On our improvement journey, we have seen the dramatic impact of year group leads across the school. This has included; overseeing the quality of teaching and learning; shaping and developing the curriculum and ensuring inclusive provision for all pupils. Moreover, the role of middle leaders to improve the teaching and learning of our core subjects has ensured we are accelerating the progress of all pupils.

The school is now looking to appoint a Teacher who has a passion for enabling children to achieve.
The successful candidate will provide additional support to identified groups of children. This will be taking individuals or groups of children across whole year groups to increase attainment and improve outcomes. This is a fixed term contract until 31 August 2021 linked to funding
You will:
• Contribute to raising the educational achievement and progress of pupils at Pear Tree Community Junior School
• Contribute to the development and coordination of the 'Jigsaw approach'
• Monitor and track the educational achievement and experience of children at Pear Tree Community Junior School
• Planning and arranging interventions aimed at increasing attainment and improving educational outcomes.
• Track and monitor the educational attainment, progress, and experience of identified groups of children to advise and recommend support and interventions necessary to improve outcomes.

• Pear Tree Junior School is located in Derby City in a diverse community
• OFSTED graded the previous school (prior to conversion to an academy) as requiring ‘Special Measures’ at the last inspection during November 2016. We are awaiting the current school’s first inspection (delayed due to Corona virus)

Alongside the Teacher Job Description there will be the following additional responsibilities:
• Provide intervention for identified pupils across the whole school (KS2)
• Plan and deliver relevant differentiated and challenging 'catch-up' curriculum as part of the schools targeted 'Jigsaw Approach'.
• To identify clear teaching objective and learning outcomes, with appropriate differentiation, challenge, support and maintain high expectations

Pear Tree Community Junior is located in the Pear Tree area to the south of Derby City Centre. The school takes pupils from the ages of 7-11 across four year groups (Year 3 to 6). The vast majority of our pupils transfer from Pear Tree Infant School, that shares the same site. We have three classes of 30 pupils in each year group and have up to 360 pupils on roll at any one time.

The school serves a diverse community. We have pupils from a wide range of countries and cultures; there are 35 different languages across the whole school.

Pear Tree offers an interesting and exciting curriculum which incorporates many enrichment activities, including a variety of trips, visits and visitors. In addition, the school benefits from a purpose built dance studio, art block and sports field, allowing our children to experience a high quality curriculum in designated spaces.

Our pupils have a strong work ethic and are dedicated to their learning. Visitors regularly comment on their exceptional manners and their respectful attitudes. Children are encouraged to be ready, respectful and responsible for their learning. We want all our children to grow and flourish.
