What skills and experience we're looking for
Qualified teacher status
Relevant teaching experience
A good standard of classroom practice
Have a thorough and up‐to‐date knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum programmes of study, and specifications for all relevant areas of the Curriculum
Use detailed subject knowledge to deal effectively with subject‐related questions raised by pupils and the common misconceptions that they hold – thereby deepening the pupils’
An understanding of assessment for learning
Understanding of effective techniques and policies for behaviour management

Awsworth Primary and Nursery School is a 1 and a half form entry primary school located in the small rural village of Awsworth, on the border of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. With a wonderful community and exceptional children, our school provides a safe and stimulating environment for pupils to thrive.
We are seeking a talented and flexible teacher to join our fantastic team at Awsworth Primary and Nursery School. In this role, you will be responsible for providing cover for PPA (Preparation, Planning and Assessment) and Management Time, working across Key Stages 1 and 2.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons to inspire a love of learning in our children
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, rooted in mutual respect
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs or English as an additional language
- Assess pupils' progress and provide regular feedback to support their academic and personal development
- Contribute to the design and delivery of a diverse and enriching curriculum
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practises and contribute to the wider life of the school
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for teaching
- Experience working with children in a primary school setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to motivate and challenge pupils
- Adaptability and a willingness to work flexibly across different key stages
Desirable Qualities:
- Ability to lead extracurricular activities or clubs
- Experience with using technology to enhance teaching and learning
- Commitment to continuous professional development
