Teacher - Primary job summary

Two new schools in North East Lincolnshire will provide fantastic opportunities for ambitious and energetic professionals – and we are seeking exceptional individuals to join our teaching team at each Academy.

Scartho and Waltham Gateway Academies, opening in September 2025, will eventually provide for up to 210 mainstream pupils, from Reception to Year 6.

They will also include a Resource Specialist Provision (RSP), catering for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The successful candidates will be experienced classroom teachers or those relatively new to the profession, who will be dynamic, creative and inspirational, ensuring all children receive an outstanding education. Crucially, the successful candidates will hold ambitious expectations for all students, including those with additional and special educational needs and disabilities and embed a culture where all can access the curriculum and learn effectively.

An ability to be creative and adaptable in their teaching is crucial. Experience of teaching across key stages is desirable and a deep knowledge of the core and wider curriculum is essential, including a good knowledge and understanding of teaching early reading, writing and maths.

During the first year, both schools will offer 15 places for children in reception; up to 30 places for a mixed 1/2 class; up to 30 places for a mixed 3/4 class. The schools will then expand, at an agreed rate with the local authority, every year. Therefore, initially, we are looking for teachers to lead in these classes. There will also be extensive opportunities for the candidates to develop their leadership experience through leading across subject areas and other aspects of the school, such as personal development and enrichment, depending on experience and ambition.

Experience of working with children with additional needs, including those with SEMH, is desirable and the candidates will have good knowledge and a practical understanding of the SEND code of practice. Pupils within the RSP are an integral part of the school community and will participate in some lessons in mainstream classes. It is therefore essential that the successful candidates champion our principles of trauma awareness and relational learning, building strong, trusting relationships with all of our children to create a safe learning environment. A full package of on-going CPD is in place to support our staff team as part of the whole school relational approach.

Collaboration is key to our development and the successful candidates would enjoy very close partnerships, working alongside the newly appointed Principals and Assistant Principals as well as the Executive Principal and other colleagues within our Trust. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to help shape the direction of travel of the new academies.

Our ethos is one of an uncompromising drive to achieve the highest standards of outcomes and behaviour in a safe environment, which encourages every student to experience an exciting and creative climate for learning.

We place a strong emphasis upon pastoral care and teachers will share the determination to offer the very best to our students so that they can thrive personally and academically.

The roles will start in September 2025.

Please visit our websites Scartho Gateway Academy - Welcome To Scartho Gateway Academy and Waltham Gateway Academy - Welcome To Waltham Gateway Academy for details about the new academies.

Please note, at this stage, it has not been decided which academy the successful candidates will be assigned to in September 2025. This will be discussed at interview.

Applications should be submitted via My New Term by 9.00am on Wednesday 26 March 2025. The personal statement should include:

Why you are interested in this role and your vision for the Academy

The personal qualities and experience that you will bring to the role

The contribution you can make to the continued success of the Trust

Candidates will be selected for interview and contacted by Friday 28 March 2025.

Interviews will take place w/b Monday 31 March 2025.

Please contact the Executive Principal, Mr Andrew Clark, for further details about the role and/or the new academies – ClarkA@lincolnshiregateway.co.uk

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. As part of this process, all successful applicants are required to apply for an enhanced DBS disclosure. Other checks including social media will be carried out in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation.
