Students and staff demonstrate a shared pride in their school: consistency of practise and approach has ensured that everyone works as a team to deliver strong outcomes for students.

Shaftesbury High School is looking to appoint a Year 7 SEND Teacher from September 2025.

We are looking to recruit a SEND teacher who will provide learning that will make a lasting change to our Year 7 students. This post will be ideal for a Secondary SEND teacher or an Upper Primary Teacher who would like to work in a secondary setting. We are looking to recruit a colleague who is a team player and at the same time operates with initiative in the school’s interest.

In Year 7 we follow a primary model. This is part of our induction process for students to support them moving to Year 8 and beyond, where students will then follow a secondary timetable model. Our Year 7 curriculum is ambitious and engaging. The annual Year 7 skiing sessions are a firm favourite. Our Year 7 curriculum has a real purpose in starting to prepare our students for employability and life. We have recently opened our Year 7 block, which was purpose built.

At Shaftesbury we recognise that academic success for our students is a combination of high quality teaching, a well-designed curriculum, and meeting the student’s pastoral needs.

Becoming part of the Shaftesbury team is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who wants to work in a culture that has high expectations for students with SEND.

Understanding the importance of work/ life balance and wellbeing is at the heart of our leadership and our learning.

We view professional development as an important part of ensuring our students have the best possible academic and personal experiences whilst at Shaftesbury.

Our students deserve the best the teaching profession has to offer. I look forward to hearing from you.

Shaftesbury High School is committed to safeguarding, inclusive practice and equal opportunities for all. All job offers will be subject to a social media check, successful enhanced DBS checks and reference checks.

Previous experience within a special needs setting is desirable but not essential. Visits during the school day are actively encouraged. For informal discussions/visits please contact the school via email mkelly@shaftesburyhighschool.org or call 0208 428 2482 . The candidates must have Qualified Teacher Status.
