What skills and experience we're looking for
Experience
Ø Teaching pupils with a range of needs and taking into account medical and care needs. However, we would be very willing to train a suitable candidate.
Ø Working in partnership with parents and carers.
Ø Flexibility and personal skills to work in liaison with other agencies is desirable.
Ø Interpersonal skills to work in a team and meeting agreed outcomes is essential.
Knowledge and Skills
Ø Ability to teach Literacy, Numeracy at Early Years or Primary stage.
Ø Commitment to functional approach to integrate Literacy, Maths and ICT into lesson design.
Ø Ability to teach and offer a main National Curriculum subject.
Ø Ability to listen and respond to the needs of parents and carers to engage them in learning process.
Ø Personal ICT capability.
Ø Assessment and recording in relation to P Scales (Although training is
readily available).
Ø Ability to safeguard children maintain safety. To develop risk assessments and health and safety planning. (Training is available).
Ability to contribute towards training of Teaching Assistants working in the classroom

Our pupils with special needs and disabilities enjoy learning and would like a teacher to support them to achieve success both within the school and in their community. The school has very good facilities and the support of experienced and friendly teaching assistants who work as a class team.
ECTs are warmly welcome to apply and they will be strongly supported through Induction. Experience of Special Needs is desirable. This post is suitable for Teachers who would like to develop special school experience in their career.
All appointments are subject to satisfactory references and checks, (including an enhanced children and adults DBS check, On-line search in line with KCSIE ’23, Barred List Check 99, Prohibition from Teaching (128 check) and health checks). The school has an Induction programme and genuine ongoing commitment of staff professional development.

Spring Common Academy is an area special school for 209 pupils in Huntingdon. Most pupils have severe learning difficulties and related needs some have autism and some have profound and complex medical needs. The school is part of Horizons Education Trust which includes Riverside Meadows SEMH school sites at St Neots and Wisbech and there is a new area special school for the Trust at Alconbury Weald (Prestley Wood Academy) opening September 2024.
