What skills and experience we're looking for

  • Do you want to work in SEND and also teach in mainstream? Springwest Academy is looking to appoint a teacher with a strong classroom presence to work in our Autistic Resource Centre. You will be supporting students with significant special educational needs with a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and you will need to be dedicated and nurturing with the ability to build a positive learning environment. You will have experience of working with young people with a variety of needs and be able to demonstrate a commitment to their own professional development. Support and training will be provided.

    Springwest Academy is committed to supporting pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Our SEND provision is active in promoting strategies and teaching methods to support the best outcomes for pupils with SEND or additional needs. Our Autistic Resource Centre’s vision is to provide the highest quality of care and education for pupils with autism in order for it to be a beacon of expert information and a model of excellence for integration and inclusion across all areas of Springwest Academy. Your main duties will include:

    • Teaching classes both within the ARC and in mainstream;
    • Supporting the students to integrate into their mainstream class where appropriate;
    • Run intervention groups within the ARC.
