SENDAT (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Academies Trust) is a Multi-Academy Trust focused on specialist provision in the eastern region. SENDAT supports a range of needs including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

SENDAT is a centralised trust and, as a result, is able to offer a variety of support and guidance to the successful candidate. In September 2024, SENDAT merged with Eastern Education Group (EEG) which will further provide staff and students with access to greater resources and support.

Duke of Lancaster opened as a free school in January 2022, and educates and cares for young people, aged between 13 and 16, with Communication and Interaction needs, including ASD. Duke of Lancaster's vision is to develop well-rounded individuals, prepared for a future in a work and contributing to society as a productive citizen.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

  • 1) Provide inspirational and outstanding teaching, offering advice, guidance and support to students as appropriate to the key stage.
  • 2) Provide a safe and secure educational and caring environment in which children and young people with complex moderate learning difficulties will receive specialist teaching to develop the self-respect, self-confident, self-control, self-advocacy and self-dependence necessary for participation as members of their community.
  • 3) Provide teaching which will promote each student's intellectual, physical, social, emotional, moral and spiritual development.
  • 4) Tutor a KS class.
  • 5) Teach core subjects across the relevant KS SEND curriculum as required.
  • 6) Teach any other subject across the school as required.
