Teaching and Learning Assistant job summary
Merit is a Pupil Referral Unit within the City of Stoke-on-Trent, our small school supports young people with a range of medical and mental health conditions, which make attending mainstream school too difficult for them.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, adaptable and talented teaching and learning assistant with secondary experience to join our dedicated and supportive team. If you are an inspirational, dedicated and effective teaching assistant who would be interested in joining our service, we would encourage you to apply and join our growing school.
The successful candidates will have experience across key stages 3 and 4; have an excellent understanding of the expectations of learners, a good standard of English and Maths and have the personal drive to achieve excellence.
We are looking for teaching assistants who will:
• Provide support under the direction of teaching staff to a consistently high standard
• Provide specific support to the teacher in the care of pupils and management of the classroom.
• Be able to share good practice with colleagues and work flexibly alongside and in support of them.
• Have a track record of successfully assisting in raising standards and in ensuring all pupil groups make good progress.
• Act practically to promote the ethos of learning.
• Has the skill to develop effective relationships with staff and pupils.
• Promote the welfare of the pupils and staff.
