Teaching Assistant job summary
Inspire the lively little learners at Harris Primary Academy Merton ! We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support individuals and groups of students to enable access to learning, contributing to the development and maintenance of a purposeful, nurturing learning environment.
Main Areas of Responsibility
As Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities include:
To supervise and provide particular support for identified students, in 1:1, group or whole class situations, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
To assist in the development of appropriate resources, schemes of work and teaching strategies, working with the teacher to ensure the provision supports each identified student’s learning needs.
To assist in evaluating identified students’ progress through agreed assessment activities.
To provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on students’ achievement, progress and needs.
To lead small group sessions and interventions as appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Experience of working directly with young people in an education or training environment, supporting the learning of students.
Experience of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders, at all levels.
Experience of managing and being responsible for own workload.

Harris Primary Academy Merton is a primary academy for local children aged two to 11. We opened in September 2014 and were rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in 2017. It is our belief that children thrive when they are consistently happy and safe at school and that through expert teaching and support all pupils can achieve to a high standard. We have a nursery available for a capacity of 60 children and are a 2 form entry school for children in Pre School through to Year 6. We also have an additional resource base for 20 children who are diagnosed with Autism. We want all of our children to have a truly enjoyable experience at school. Our pupils’ achievements are celebrated every day in their lessons and we are proud that they are kind, caring, self-assured and eager to learn.
