What skills and experience we're looking for

Here at Brotherton and Byram Community Primary Academy we are looking to recruit a caring and dedicated one to one Teaching Assistant. The post is to support an individual child with special educational needs, this position is initially fixed term until the end of July 2023.

As a Teaching Assistant you will be passionate about teaching and learning and believe in developing the true potential of children. You will have a calm and positive disposition, the ability to break down activities into small step teaching and will nurture, inspire, challenge and motivate pupils. Implementing clear boundaries and routines, you will use positive behaviour management in all areas around school.

Within this role you will be working in the classroom supporting the learning needs of a child who has an EHCP, you will be carrying out pre planned appropriate activities to ensure they are getting the most out of their education, you will also be working with and alongside a wide range of different professions all with the common goal of ensuring the best care and education is given to our children.

Good, clear and effective communication will play a key role in this position, you will need to work with and alongside the child, their family and other members of staff within the school.

You will have positive behaviour management skills, and be flexible and able to work on your own initiative.

You will be enthusiastic and passionate about child development, play and interaction with knowledge on how you can develop this further to enhance children’s experiences.

You will have a clear understanding of the child’s needs and how you can best help and support them. You may provide personal care including toileting, changing and feeding, encouraging independence where appropriate.
