Teaching Assistant 1.1 job summary
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join Edenthorpe Hall Primary Academy to work with a child based in KS1. We are seeking to appoint an experienced, hardworking teaching assistant to work on a 1:1 basis. The role would require you to have a strong understanding of SEND and hold relevant experience of working with children with a range of needs particularly with those on the autistic spectrum with specific SEMH needs. This role requires the post-holder to commit to 13 hours per week throughout term time.
Duties Include (but not limited to):
To work as a member of the Y1 team
To liaise closely with the Y1 class teacher and SENCO
To provide support throughout the school day including at lunchtime for 1:1 child
To implement specific support programmes for the 1:1 child including the use of sensory breaks
To liaise with parents along with class teacher on a daily basis
To contribute to the monitoring of specific learning and behavioural targets
To work alongside other agencies who are supporting the child and family
Required Skills/Experience
We are looking for candidates who can display the following skills and experience:
Previous experience working with SEND children in a primary setting (Essential)
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (Essential)
At least grade C or above in Maths and English in GCSE or equivalent or working towards this (Essential)
Previous experience of working with children on the autistic spectrum (Essential)
Positive behaviour management skills (Essential)
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team (Essential)
Kind, caring and compassionate (Essential)
High professional and personal standards (Essential)
First Aid Certificate (Desirable)
Relevant safeguarding training (Desirable)
Knowledge and experience of positive behaviour management strategies (Desirable)
Commitment to safeguarding
