St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, child-centred, and highly skilled SEND Teaching Assistant. We are looking for a dedicated practitioner with a proven track record of supporting children with complex needs within a primary setting. With exemplary pupil behaviour, a collaborative staff team, and an inclusive learning environment, St Bernadette’s is a wonderful place to further your career in special education.

We are looking for a specialist who can support learning in KS1. The successful candidate will primarily work on a 1:1 basis, but must remain flexible enough to lead small-group interventions or support the wider class.

You will join our happy, forward-thinking academy and work as part of a dedicated team to:

  • Deliver bespoke learning activities under the guidance of the SENCO and class teacher, ensuring that the pupil’s EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets are met.

  • Contribute to the teaching of Phonics, using adaptive or multisensory strategies to ensure the curriculum is accessible and engaging for pupils with SEND.

  • Work closely with senior staff to monitor, record, and report on the pupil’s progress, ensuring they make excellent social, emotional, and academic strides.

  • Contribute to the strong Catholic ethos of our academy, ensuring every child feels valued as a unique individual.

  • Meet the pastoral needs of the pupil. This includes collaborating with parents, carers, and external agencies (such as Speech and Language Therapists or Educational Psychologists) to promote effective safeguarding and wellbeing.

  • Professional Partnerships: Develop strong, empathetic relationships with pupils, staff, and partners across our MAT.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and pre-employment medical clearance. In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), online searches will also be carried out for shortlisted candidates. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Closing Date: Noon: 5th June 2026

(We are keen to receive early applications. We reserve the right to close advertised vacancies earlier than the published deadline, should the need arise).
Interviews: 12th June 2026
