What skills and experience we're looking for

The successful applicant(s) will:

  • Embody our school vision and Christian values;

  • Have a secure knowledge of the National curriculum and Early Years Framework;
  • Be an advocate for children with Special Educational Needs, ensuring the highest care, support and provision possible;
  • Be confident and have a positive attitude even during some challenging moments;
  • Be able to deliver a bespoke curriculum to ensure learning outcomes and the personal development of an individual pupil with specific learning and sensory needs, are supported and achieved;
  • Aid pupils to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on their own, this will involve clarifying and explaining instructions, including the use of visual prompts and signs and symbols;
  • Is willing to be trained, and can facilitate bespoke learning programmes including attachment, speech and language, and to use a range of visual strategies to enhance learning, socialisation, communication and interaction in the setting with the assistance of the SEND team;
  • Ensure the adaptation of resources, equipment, and materials, working with initiative and creative thought at all times to achieve intended learning outcomes;
  • Liaise sensitively with class teacher, SEND team, parents, and outside agencies/ professionals regarding individual education plans and progress reviews;
  • Consistently and effectively implement agreed behaviour management strategies;
  • Be willing to get fully involved in the life of the school, building positive partnerships with the community;
  • Enjoy school life and all that it involves, with a kind heart, positive outlook and sense of fun.
