Teaching Assistant (2) - (SEND) – 25 Hours Per week - Term Time + 5 INSET Days job summary

Teaching Assistant (2) - (SEND) – 25 Hours Per week - Term Time + 5 INSET Days

The Governing Body are looking to appoint a caring and committed Teaching Assistant (SEND) to support a child with special educational needs.  We are rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

(Permanent post from 1st January 2024 - Subject to relevant checks)

The Governors would like to appoint someone to join our friendly, supportive team, working as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant.

You will be required to work on a 1:1 basis with a named child, who has special educational needs.   Due to their needs, they may show challenging behaviour and therefore some of their learning time may be in a designated space outside of the classroom.

Pirton Hill Primary School is on an exciting journey and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of our existing support staff team to help our pupils to fulfil their true potential.

We are looking to appoint a person who:

  • has a proven record of high quality support for children with SEND and having a positive impact on their outcome;
  • has a range of relevant experience, including working with children with SEND across the primary age range; and
  • is determined to raise standards in order to secure the best possible outcomes for each child.

For further information, or to arrange a visit, please contact Lynne Jaggers on 01582 507924 or email  lynnejaggers@pirtonhill.co.uk

Closing date: Noon on Monday, 27th November 2023

 Interviews: - To be confirmed

The successful candidate must be able to converse with ease with members of the public and provide effective help and advice in accurate and fluent spoken English.

Please note that if you are shortlisted for this role, or an alternative role, an online name search will be undertaken, as per Keeping Children Safe in Education.  The purpose of the search is to help identify any incidents or issues that have happened, and are publicly available online, which the school might want to explore with you at interview.

Please ensure that references include your most recent employer and that the contact email is their professional NOT their personal email address.

CVs will not be accepted for any posts based in schools.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.  Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).

This post will be exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders 1974 (Exemptions) (Amendments) Order 1986. Therefore, applicants are not entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are ‘spent’ under the provision of the Act, and, in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such convictions will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority. The fact that a pending charge, conviction, bind-over or caution has been recorded against you will not necessarily debar you from consideration for this appointment.

Commitment to safeguarding

Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.

Our recruitment process follows the keeping children safe in education guidance.

Offers of employment may be subject to the following checks (where relevant):
childcare disqualification
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
medical
online and social media
prohibition from teaching
right to work
satisfactory references
suitability to work with children

You must tell us about any unspent conviction, cautions, reprimands or warnings under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.
