Teaching Assistant job summary

We are looking to appoint a full time Teaching Assistant for KS1 in our charming village primary school, located in the Hertfordshire countryside, just 7 miles from Hitchin / 10 minutes from Luton Airport. We are a friendly village primary school with a happy and caring team of staff and children.

Hours of work will be 8:45 to 3.15 Monday to Friday.
You will have a clear and passionate view of how children best learn and be dynamic, creative and enthusiastic in your approach. Our children need adults who will inspire and challenge them, setting high expectations with appropriate support.
This role requires flexibility, the ability to be a good team player and strong communication skills. The successful applicant will provide a range of support including 1:1, so experience of SEN is desireable.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.

Main duties and responsibilities

School Related:

Act in accordance with school policies and procedures and relevant legislation, particularly in relation to child protection and behaviour management.

Assist with the planning and preparation of activities, and in the delivery of local and national initiatives e.g phonics.

Participate in the preparation of the classroom.

Monitor children’s needs and reporting these to a designated person.

Keep records as required by the school.

Child Related:

Promote development and learning (physical, emotional, educational and social). Foster growth, self-esteem and independence, observe and record development.

Support those with special needs.

Carry out reasonable daily personal care/hygiene duties and administer basic first aid.

Assist with the movement of children in and around the school.
