What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an inspirational Teaching Assistant to support our Primary team of excellent teachers at Fordway Centre which is a 5-11 Pupil Referral Unit based in Ashford, Surrey. This is a permanent post starting in April 2025 for 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday, term time only. The successful candidate will have excellent support skills and good all-round knowledge of supporting the education of students and an understanding of Special education, mainstream education and / or Pupil Referral Units.

Fordway Centre (FWC) is a 5 – 11 Alternative Provision 'AP' school set over a single campus in Ashford, Middlesex. The school is based on a single site, for 24 pupils at KS1 and 2, currently located in a comfortable temporary building in Guildford but will be moving to our brand new, purpose built school in Ashford, Surrey, in September 2024. From April 2025 you will join us at our stunning brand new purpose-built school where innovation meets inspiration, our facilities are designed to empower the staff and students, fostering a dynamic learning atmosphere where creativity and collaboration thrive.

Our aim is to reduce the numbers of pupils who are permanently excluded from school by offering mainstream schools an alternative to exclusion. We work closely with our Mainstream School partners to support early intervention so as to avoid permanent exclusion through a range of interventions so pupils can be supported, either within their mainstream school or at the college.

FVC became part of the Inclusive Education Trust (IET) which formed in September 2021 and works alongside Reigate Valley College (Reigate) and the Wey Valley College (Guildford)y Centre (Ashford Mdx). So whilst you get the benefits of working within a small and supportive setting, by working so closely with our other PRU’s we also provide you with a wide network of support, excellent opportunities for continued professional development and diverse opportunities for career progression.
