Teaching Assistant and MDSA

Pickwick Academy Trust would like to recruit a permanent member of staff to perform the roles of both a part-time Teaching Assistant and MDSA, based at Ivy Lane Primary School.

Both roles are interlinked so if the employee resigns from one they will have to resign from the other one at the same time too.

Hours:

Teaching Assistant – 25 hours per week, 8.30am – 12.00noon plus 1.30pm – 3.00pm, Monday and Friday, 38 weeks per year (term time only, excluding TD Days).

MDSA - 5 hours per week, 12.00noon – 1.00pm, Monday and Friday, 38 weeks per year (term time only, excluding TD Days).

Salary range:

Teaching Assistant- D4-D6 £24,404 - £25,183 pro rata per annum (actual salary £13,819 - £14,260 per annum) depending on experience

MDSA – B2 £23,656 pro rata per annum, actual salary £2679 per annum

Ivy Lane School is a two-form entry Primary School in the centre of Chippenham, Wiltshire and is part of the Pickwick Academy Trust. We also have our on-site Sunflowers Nursery which accepts children from the age of 3 years old.

Role overview:

We are looking to appoint a new member to our team to perform the role of Teaching Assistant and MDSA at Ivy Lane Primary School.

As a Teaching Assistant and MDSA you must be committed and flexible, be able to support groups and individual children with their learning. Being able to work as part of a team is essential as well as being able to use your own initiative. The successful candidates will need excellent communication and liaison skills and will be closely supported by a class teacher and wider team.

Duties will include:

Supporting pupils learning, either in groups or through 1:1 work. The exact tasks will depend on the learning support needs of the pupil/s

Supporting pupils self-esteem, inclusion and behavioural development

Provide physical/personal care to pupils where required

Supporting the teacher/s

Supporting the curriculum - Support the delivery of the English and Mathematics curriculum along with other aspects of both the National Curriculum and the enhanced curriculum offered by the school.

Support the schoole.g.assisting with setting up, storing and retrieving and general maintenance of classroom equipment and teaching aids.

We are keen to hear from individuals who are patient, calm, organised and adaptable. Being able to work as part of a team is essential, as well as being able to use your own initiative. A positive outlook and a sense of humour is essential.

The jobholder must demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This will involve undertaking annual Safeguard training and using school reporting systems for any Safeguard concerns.
