What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint, as soon as possible, a Teaching Assistant.

This is an exciting opportunity to have a key role in working as part of a successful special educational needs (SEN) team, supporting students at Humphry Davy School. As a central part of the SEN team, you will be expected to form positive relationships with all stakeholders of the school in supporting our young people to overcome any barriers to learning on an academic level.

This is a varied and fulfilling role, across many subject areas which will help shape our students to be successful, confident, and happy individuals, with the tools and strategies to take on the challenges that learning can pose for them.

We are looking for an excellent team player and communicator who has the confidence to deal with a range of SEN needs and the ability to take the lead and show initiative. You must have a passion for working with young people. You will have strengths in supporting them; showing care and attention and the ability to work alongside teaching colleagues to provide support to access learning.

You need to be an emotionally resilient person and have a high understanding of the role and responsibility around safeguarding.

Applications are welcome from those who have a background or interest in having further training to support children with SEN, including (but not limited to) ASD, ADHD or SEMH (social, emotional, mental health)

For further details, including our application form please visit our school website www.humphry-davy.cornwall.sch.uk

Closing Date: 29th November 2023 (12 noon)

Interviews : w/c 4th December 2023 (tbc)

Ofsted (Short Inspection November 2016) judged the school as ‘good’ and stated, “Across the school we found that pupils were very keen to learn. Pupils we spoke with enjoy coming to school and feel that they are making good progress. Pupils are well-mannered and keen to tell visitors how good the school is and how it keeps them safe”. A more recent visit in July 2022 by the LA education effectiveness team highlighted how staff create a positive atmosphere and inclusive ethos, leading to all students having a sense of belonging to the Humphry Davy Community.
