Teaching Assistant - SEND Support
St Wilfrid's Catholic Academy

St Wilfrid's Catholic Academy is seeking a caring and committed Teaching Assistant to work with pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by providing tailored academic and pastoral support within a nurturing, faith-led school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support for pupils with SEND, ensuring access to learning and inclusion.
  • Assist with implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised strategies.
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to deliver high-quality learning experiences.
  • Promote pupils’ emotional wellbeing and independence.

Hours

  • 30 hours per week
  • 6 hours per day

Start Date

  • Monday 5th January 2026 (or as soon as possible)

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a school setting.
  • Ability to adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.

Desirable Qualities

  • Knowledge of strategies for supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or other additional needs.
  • Relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning (Level 3 or Level 4).
  • Strong communication skills and patience.
