What skills and experience we're looking for
Qualifications & Training
Essential:
• Good general standard of education at Level 2 or above, including English and maths
Desirable:
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in childcare related subject or willingness to work towards relevant
qualification
Experience and Knowledge
Essential:
• Experience of working with children
Desirable:
• Experience of working in an education environment with students with SEMH needs.
Skills and Abilities
Essential:
• Well organised
• Flexible.
• Able to work on own initiative
Desirable:
• Good ICT skills.
Additional Requirements
• A willingness to undertake appropriate training.
• Awareness and sensitivity with regard to equal opportunities and race equality.
• Undertake First Aid training as required.

Further details about the role
Purpose of the Post:
• To provide support to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
to overcome barriers to learning in a personalised learning centre within the
Academy.
• To provide support to teaching staff in the preparation of Teaching and Learning
materials and wider educational opportunities.
• To provide learning support to students working in small groups outside the
classroom in collaboration with subject teachers to develop good literacy and
numeracy skills and enable them to continue to access mainstream education.
• To be a personal tutor for a small group of students.
