We have an opportunity for you to be part of an amazing team and school, working within our  Learning Support Team.   If you are passionate about working with children and want to make a real difference to their learning at this crucial time in their education  - this job is for you.

We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support the provision for our children in either Early Years or KS1. The post is for 27.5 hours per week Monday to Friday,  term time only.

The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated to making a difference to children's learning. You will need to enjoy working with children and be passionate and committed to helping children develop as independent and confident individuals. This role will help support pupils to access all aspects of learning and self-help skills. You will work closely with the class teacher, phase leader and deputy head.

You will need to have a GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths (C or above) with a high standard of written and spoken English.

Our school is part of the Agora Learning Partnership (ALP), which consists of 9 schools and shares an Executive Headteacher with Alban Wood Primary and Nursery School.  The schools in the Trust maintain their own clear identity, however, working collaboratively within a trust means that there is a huge amount of opportunity and support for staff in each school.  Orchard is very friendly and welcoming and have supportive teams who are committed to ensuring that every child reaches their full potential and enjoys learning.

The Agora Learning Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils in its care and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As part of creating a culture that safeguards and promotes the welfare of children in our schools, it is important that in our work to attract the most suitable, high calibre candidates, we adopt robust recruitment procedures that deter and prevent people who are unsuitable to work with children from:

  • Applying for or securing employment
  • Securing volunteering opportunities in our schools

The DfE’s Keeping Children Safe in Education, which is updated annually, sets out the legal requirements, the actions schools ‘should’ take and what is considered ‘best practice’ for safer recruitment.

All schools and the central team in the Agora Learning Partnership follow the guidance outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education, including:

  • Recruitment and selection processes
  • Pre-appointment vetting checks, regulated activity and recording information

All staff involved in recruitment and selection processes are fully trained and resourced to fulfil their responsibilities.

The Agora Learning Partnership recognises the value of, and seeks to achieve a diverse workforce which includes people from different backgrounds, with different skills and abilities. Our schools are also committed to ensuring that the recruitment and selection of all who work within the school are conducted in a manner that is systematic, efficient and effective and promotes equality of opportunity.

All post holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Declaration Form prior to interview.
