What skills and experience we're looking for

As a Teaching Assistant you will play a key role in the child’s day, you will be passionate about teaching and learning and believe in developing the true potential of all our children. You will have a calm and positive disposition, the ability to break down activities into small step teaching and will nurture, inspire, challenge and motivate pupils. Implementing clear boundaries and routines, you will use behaviour management in all areas around school. You will also guide the children to help them to develop friendships and relationships with other adults in the school and their peers. You will also provide support to develop communication and social and emotional skills to help children to develop relationships with peers and adults.

Ideally you will be an experienced Teaching Assistant with knowledge and understanding with regards to child development and SEMH/ ASD. Whilst this is the ideal, full training and support will be given to those new to the role.

As a school we pride ourselves on our behaviour management. Knowledge and experience of Emotion Coaching, Personalised Zones of Regulation and supporting children to become independent learners would be desirable.

The successful candidate will:

- Work closely with Class Teachers, SENCO and the Wellbeing Team to provide additional support to pupils

- Provide intervention support to pupils, including behavioural issues and a range of SEMH needs

- Review and feedback observations to the Class Teacher, SENCO and the Wellbeing Team

- Provide 1:1 or small group support

- Work alongside professionals e.g. Specialist Teaching Teams, Educational Psychologists and The Wellbeing Service to implement advice given for individual children

What will you need to succeed?

The ideal candidate will be confident, adaptable and enthusiastic about the change they can make to children with SEMH and other SEND requirements.
