Teaching Assistant job summary
We are seeking to appoint creative, resilient, and dynamic Teaching Assistants to work with our Secondary students and join our supportive friendly whole school team at Iford Academy.
Here, at Iford Academy, we recognise the value of effective teamwork, and our Teaching Assistants are very much part of both our class teams and the wider school community. Their input forms an integral part of our provision and is valued by all staff, including the Senior Leadership Team.
Duties include assisting the teacher to provide care and support for pupils, to support learning through planned and differentiated activities, preparation of an effective learning environment, and promoting and safeguarding the welfare of pupils.
You will have a dynamic, exceptional, and creative approach to improving the teaching and learning in a way that benefits all our students. You will preferably have experience of working with young people with additional needs including childhood trauma, alongside SEMH and ASC.
Previous experience in a school setting would be beneficial but is not essential, however the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate that they can engage with young people and build positive relationships.
What We have to Offer:
- A visible and approachable senior leadership team and an enthusiastic and committed team of teachers and support staff.
- A strong support network both within the school and across Authentic Education.
- All staff are part of a professional learning community in which evidence-informed CPD is designed to meet individual needs.
- Strong potential for career progression.
- A culture that respects work-life balance and an ongoing commitment to wellbeing with a dedicated Wellbeing Champion.
- An Employee Assistance Programme including in the moment support and counselling sessions with an external provider.
- Staff benefits include free eye testing for DSE users through Specsavers, free will writing through Dunham McCarthy Solicitors and reduced price corporate gym membership through BH Live and Two Rivers Meet Leisure Centre, Christchurch.
- A competitive pension through Teachers’ Pensions or The Local Government Pension Scheme for support staff.
- Free on-site parking
