What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant with:

  • Good standard of education (e.g., 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at grade C or above).
  • Relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent (desirable).
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting pupils in the classroom, especially those with additional needs.
  • Understanding of child development, learning processes, and barriers to learning.
  • Experience with pupil reviews and reports (e.g., EHC plans).
  • Strong communication skills with both pupils and adults.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and use initiative.
  • Good IT skills for supporting learning activities.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and collaborative teamwork.

Your Role in Building Brighter Futures

As a Teaching Assistant at Wansdyke Primary School you will play a key role in contributing to the delivery of Futura’s mission statement of “Building the brightest future for all, enabling every individual to flourish”. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about living our values and making a positive impact on all the young people in our Trust

As a Teaching Assistant you will be responsible for:

  • Supervising and supporting pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Establishing constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model.
  • Supporting inclusion and encourage cooperation among pupils.
  • Assisting with 1:1 and small group learning support, adjusting to individual needs.
  • Promoting independence and self-esteem through challenging expectations and rewards.
  • Using ICT to support learning activities and foster pupil independence.
  • Monitoring and evaluating pupils’ progress against learning objectives, providing feedback.
  • Assisting teachers with developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Supporting lesson planning and adjusting activities to suit pupil needs.
  • Communicating with parents and other agencies, providing reports on pupil progress.
  • Assisting in maintaining classroom resources, displays, and preparing materials.
  • Supervising pupils during out-of-class times (e.g., lunch, trips, after-school activities).
  • Administering routine tests and invigilate exams.
  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health, and safety policies.
