Teaching Assistant job summary
The Role: We are seeking to appoint an exceptional teaching assistant to join the Emotional Literacy and Feelings (ELF) team and at Malmesbury Park Primary Academy.
The role involves working in a team of three to provide ELF support to children with social and emotional needs, as well as providing support to the wider school community as required. Part of the role will entail developing strong relationships with parents, carers and children alike. You may act as a Key Person for a number of children, taking responsibility for their social and emotional wellbeing throughout their time with us.
The Person: The ideal candidate will be hard working, friendly and outgoing. They will have an enthusiasm for working with children, particularly those with social and emotional needs. They will have a talent for engaging with sometimes complex children, encouraging social interaction, developing independence, self-esteem and encouraging all individuals to achieve their goals.
The right person will be confident in dealing with challenging behaviour and understanding complex social and emotional issues. A qualification to support children with social and emotional needs would be highly beneficial – for example ELSA.

School Background: Malmesbury Park is a highly popular academy, with a warm, caring, friendly ethos. The two units attached to the school are well established and are very highly regarded with one for children with social communication difficulties and one for children who find working in a mainstream class challenging. Parents actively support their children and engage in many aspects of school life including extensive fund raising. Malmesbury Park is a successful, highly regarded three-form entry primary academy with a PAN of 682. The Academy was inspected in January 2018 and received a Good rating: ‘The school is a welcoming, friendly environment in which to learn. Parents and carers are overwhelmingly happy with the school. They appreciate the extra support and care that staff provide.’
