Job Overview
We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated and supportive team. This post will involve assisting in the support of inclusion of students with additional needs within the academy, working under the instruction/guidance of teachers to enable students access to learning.
The successful candidate will be supporting student’s learning, either in whole class, groups or through 1:1 work. The exact tasks will depend on the learning support needs of the student/s but may include:
Supporting the development of skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, and social and behavioral needs
Differentiating work for individual students to suit their ability
Using knowledge of student’s learning support needs to suggest appropriate adjustments to lesson plans to Teachers
Support student’s learning through marking and feedback by clarifying and explaining instructions
Ensuring students can use equipment and materials provided
Motivating and supporting students by helping students to concentrate on and finish work set
The successful candidate will have:
Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (or equivalent) or classroom experience within the last 2 years.
A good standard of education, particularly in English and Mathematics
Relevant experience in an educational establishment/setting
Knowledge of National Curriculum requirements for the age of the students
Demonstrable evidence of experience in supporting young people in a learning environment
Demonstrable evidence of establishing positive relationships with young people
Excellent communication skills: the ability to enthuse, inspire, influence and motivate others
Knowledge of the use of basic technology i.e., photocopier, computer, DVD and digital camera
Ability to work effectively on own initiative
