Teaching Assistant - Special Education Needs Barnsley, South Yorkshire Grade 1 £18,309 33 hours p/w term time ONLY including 5 inset days

THE ROLE

As a Grade 1 Teaching Assistant (TA1) at our school in Barnsley, you will offer more than classroom support. You will make connections, develop relationships and lead our pupils on the path to a bright future. This will include working under the guidance of a teacher to support the academic and personal development of children throughout the school day. This includes:

  • Getting the classroom ready for lessons

  • Supporting children in class with reading, visual learning and messy play

  • Helping those who need extra support

  • Completing pupils record plans

  • Personal care

THE CANDIDATE

  • Interest in working in a special education school

  • An understanding or experience of working with children/ young people with SEN / SEND needs

  • Be willing to undertake Maths & English qualifications within a specific timeframe

SALARY/ HOURS

Salary for a Grade 1 Teaching Assistant is £18,309 actual annual salary working 33 hours per week Mon-Fri term time only + 5 inset days + amazing benefits working for our Wellspring trust This is a full time role working Mon-Fri TERM TIME only 8.50am-3.45pm (every Wednesday till 4.45pm)
Start date for this role is 1st September 2025
