Teaching Assistant, Hearing Specialist Base job summary
Working Thursdays & Fridays 08:30 – 15:30
12 hours per week, term time only 38 weeks per year
Fixed term contract
until August 2024
Required as soon as
possible, HSB Teaching Assistant to give
support to children with profound hearing impairment and additional needs.
Working in partnership with the Teacher for the deaf and classroom based Teachers
to support children’s access of the curriculum, participation in learning
activities and the life of the school by communicating between spoken English
and British Sign Language or Signed Supported English, depending on the child’s
communication preference.
Enhance children’s sense of achievement whilst developing
independence in learning and other aspects of school life.
A British Sign Language Level 1 qualification is essential, stage 2 is
desirable and you should be well qualified and possess the confidence and
skills in the person specification.
