Hearing Specialist Base (HSB) Teaching Assistant

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: £6,507 per annum (actual salary) – Grade 3, pt 4

Location: Rushmere Hall Primary School, Lanark Road, Ipswich, IP4 3EJ

Contract type: Maternity cover, 38 weeks term time only

Hours: 12 hours per week, working Thursdays and Fridays 08:30 – 15:30

We are looking to recruit a Hearing Specialist Base Teaching Assistant to give support to children with profound hearing impairment and additional needs. Working in partnership with the Teacher for the deaf and classroom based Teachers to support children’s access of the curriculum, participation in learning activities and the life of the school by communicating between spoken English and British Sign Language or Signed Supported English, depending on the child’s communication preference. Enhance children’s sense of achievement whilst developing independence in learning and other aspects of school life.

A British Sign Language Level 1 qualification is essential, stage 2 is desirable and you should be well qualified and possess the confidence and skills in the person specification.
