What skills and experience we're looking for
Haxby Road Primary Academy have an exciting opportunity to recruit for a hardworking and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant, this is to work across the ERP including the Lakeside Primary Academy site, supporting classes during PPA time or working with smaller groups of pupils under the guidance of the Class Teacher.
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant you will be responsible for whole class teaching and learning, delivering lessons and contributing to the progress reports, observations and assessment of the children’s learning, identifying any areas of development and adjusting lessons as appropriate for individual needs.
You may work with smaller groups of children to deliver intervention groups as and when appropriate.
As part of this role you will work across both Haxby Road Primary Academy and Lakeside Primary Academy sites, therefore access to your own transportation will be essential to this role.
You will a good understanding of child development, be passionate about improving the outcomes for children within an educational setting with good ideas and strategies on how this can be achieved.
You will be working with a vast range of professionals within this role, so the ability to communicate effectively with the children, parents/carers, staff and the wider school community are essential.
You will have a calm and caring disposition, be able to remain calm in the face of challenging behaviour and have the ability to de-escalate situations quickly.
You will be an advocate for the children and a positive and proactive member of the team, ensuring you are working towards the schools goals and behaviour expectations.
