Teaching Assistant L2 job summary
Birley Primary Academy, part of L.E.A.D Academy Trust are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our EYFS Nursery team. This is an exciting opportunity to support children aged 2–4 years in a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
Working alongside our Early Years team, you will help deliver high-quality learning experiences through play, support children's development, and contribute to their wellbeing and progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children's learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Work with individuals and small groups to promote learning and independence.
- Assist in planning and delivering engaging activities and learning experiences.
- Help create a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment.
- Support children's personal, social and emotional development.
- Observe and record children's progress and share information with teaching staff.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
- Support children's welfare, including personal care where required.
- Promote positive behaviour and high expectations for all children.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Holds a relevant Level 2 Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification.
- Has experience working with young children in a nursery, preschool or school setting.
- Has a good understanding of the EYFS framework.
- Is patient, caring and enthusiastic.
- Can work effectively as part of a team.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Birley Primary Academy joined L.E.A.D Academy Trust in February 2017 together with four other schools in the Birley family. This is an exciting time to join our Academy and contribute to a successful learning environment for our children.
We are a large primary school in south east Sheffield, admitting children from 3 to 11 years with Foundation Stage 1 (nursery) provision for 104 children. Our admissions number is 90 children across all other year groups. The school was last inspected by Ofsted in 2019 and was judged to be good.
