Seven Hills School requires Two Full Time enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants who would enjoy working in a happy and supportive school. 1 x Permanent Post
1 x Temporary Post until 31 August 2022

The successful candidates will join us to complete a strong team and contribute to the school’s success.

Governors are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals who are able to relate well to young people with a range of complex needs including severe learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorder, physical disabilities and communication difficulties. You will need to work collaboratively within a staff team and with visiting therapists. You should have experience of managing students with challenging behaviour, be Team Teach trained and have a willingness to develop this further.

The successful applicant will provide high quality support for the learning, personal care, communication and physical needs of students, working across a range of ages and abilities.

Teaching Assistants also contribute towards students’ formal and informal assessment and help build effective relationships between home and school.

All Teaching Assistants are required to be proficient in Safe Moving and Handling techniques and Team Teach. Training will be provided as necessary. A knowledge of Makaton, basic ICT skills and experience of working with students with disabilities, learning difficulties, and communication difficulties would be an advantage but professionals with a positive attitude who are committed to their own professional development will also be considered.

Seven Hills School is a co-educational secondary special school co-located with a Catholic High School near the centre of the city. We cater for pupils from 11 to 19 years of age. The school is maintained by Sheffield Local Authority (LA).

All pupils have learning difficulties and many have other associated difficulties relating to communication, behaviour, sensory, physical and/or medical disabilities. In common with many other special schools, pupils admitted have increasingly complex needs. A high proportion of pupils are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Approximately 25% of pupils are from an ethnic minority background.
