What skills and experience we're looking for

This is an exciting opportunity to join Howden Junior School as a Level 1 Teaching Assistant. Each day you will support and assist the teaching of students within the school.

This is a full time position and the working hours are from 08:30am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday during the school term. This is a fixed term position until 31/07/2025. Your actual salary is £16,716.39 per annum, and this is paid in 12 equal instalments over the year so even when it is the summer holidays, you continue to receive the same payment that month.

You will work as part of our friendly and dedicated team, providing in-class support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs. You will hold a Teaching Assistant Level 1 qualification or equivalent, preferably have experience of working in a similar role, have a calm and patient manner and a positive attitude at all times.

Working under the direction of the Head of Inclusion, Safeguarding and Wellbeing/SENDCO, the ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of English and Maths and the ability to engage children in their learning. It is important that candidates are caring, work well as part of a team and can act using their own initiative.
