Teaching Assistant - Level 1 Supporting SEND complex needs job summary
A unique opportunity has arisen to join a passionate team of staff at Birchwood Primary School, part of the Community Academies Trust. We are seeking a Level 1 Teaching Assistant to work within a highly motivated and successful team of knowledgeable staff to support children with complex needs.
Birchwood Primary School is a successful and oversubscribed, two-form entry community primary school. Our positive school culture and excellent relationships are built on consideration and respect. As a member of staff, the post holder will become part of our team responsible for supporting individuals with their Education and Health Care Plans and will also be responsible for the personal care and needs of our children. The successful candidate will ideally have experience working in a Teaching Assistant role within a primary school and will be aware of the challenges that children with complex needs can face.
The role will entail undertaking work with children with special educational needs to support their development and learning. Working under the direction of our SENDCo and class teachers, they will support access to learning in the classroom and outdoors. This role will have an adapted daily timetable, as it will involve working in the classroom for periods as well as at break and lunchtime to cater to the specific needs of our children.
